Rug Cleaning Service
Oriental rugs are awesome! They are beautiful, very durable and, if properly cared for, can last several lifetimes. What’s not awesome about them? They are nearly impossible to clean yourself! Wool is a natural fiber. It is very sensitive and can easily be damaged by conventional cleaning methods. Because of this, a thorough professional cleaning is recommended every 12 to 18 months.
Our oriental rug cleaning service is specifically designed with convenience in mind. Simply give us a call or send us a text and we’ll do the rest. We’ll set an appointment to come out and pick up your rug, take it to our cleaning facility, and return it to your home once we are finished restoring its beauty. We will move your furniture if necessary, and place your rugs back in their original position. All you have to do is point and nod.
The Rug Cleaning Process
First, we perform a thorough inspection to identify fiber type and potential problems such as stains and wear. Then we’ll roll it up and bring it to our rug cleaning facility. Next, we remove all the dry soil and dirt from the rug using a powerful vacuum. Then your rug is saturated in a cleaning solution professionally designed for your specific rug type, so that all the fibers are completely treated and cleaned. Your baby is then speed dried and protected until the scheduled appointment when we return it to you, looking like new!
The best way to keep your area rug looking its best between cleanings is to flip it upside down and vacuum the back of the rug once a month. It is okay to use a beater bar/rotating brush vacuum on the back of a wool rug. On the front it is recommended to only use suction.
Vacuuming the back with the beater bar/rotating brush helps push dirt trapped deep down toward the top of the rug. The rug is then flipped right side up and this dirt is vacuumed. For synthetic area rugs it is fine to use the beater bar/rotating brush vacuum on the front and back of the rug.
It is not advisable to vacuum fringes/tassels. When you run the vacuum over the fringes they get sucked into the beater bar of your vacuum. The fringes do not need to be vacuumed at all. Fluffing them by hand is all they need. Anything else can cause damage to them.
Be aware of carpet shampoos or sprays! Carpet shampoos are usually made for synthetic wall to wall carpet not wool area rugs. Always check the label before using any spot cleaners or rug shampoos. Only use shampoos and spotters designed specifically for Oriental rugs. When you do use a spotter or shampoo, make sure you rinse it all out. If there is any soap residue remaining in the rug, it will attract dirt. Always test your rug with a damp white cotton towel to make sure the colors will not run or bleed.
To avoid permanent staining, make sure you clean up spills or stains as soon as they occur. Blot or scrape the spillage, depending on the type of spill. Blot, using a clean white 100% cotton dry towel and press down very hard from the outside towards the middle. Do this repeatedly, turning the folded towel over and over until you have absorbed as much moisture as possible. When you blot the spot move the towel in straight lines, NEVER RUB IN A CIRCLE OR SCRUB, AS THIS CAN CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO YOUR RUG.
